Oh lol. That thread was awesome.
I think it might have to do with the combination of heat, and the constant fear of getting your ass handed to you by a 'roo. Those things are fricken nasty sometimes.

I lived in Australia for a looooong time. I think many Australians have an inbuilt defensiveness towards Americans. They HATE being criticised, but looooove pointing out what is wrong with 'Merica. Go figure.

Which is so strange, seeing as most Americans I know LOVE the Aussies.

@Cass, yah, but Americans dont have to deal with the restrictions imposed by the US-Aus Free Trade Agreement. Australia wanted America as a military ally, so in return they have to be America's bitch. It upsets a lot of people.

@drankid - yes. I'm not up on the latest version as it changes periodically, but there have been things like: Many imported American goods don't have import tax added, making them more competitive in the Australian market against other foreign imports, and often cheaper than Australian made products. There was a mandated amount of American television required to be on Australian tv (so local productions got pushed out in favour of American shows and there was a kind of enforced "Americanisation" of the local culture), Australian farmers had to sell a lot of produce - beef, wheat etc super cheaply to American buyers, and Im not 100% sure about the details, but America was also allowed to send a certain amount of nuclear waste to be dumped in Australia... Australia also committed troops to whatever America was doing.

So that might be why some of the Aussie ladies get their panties in a bunch on the forum.
