Kids on my street were selling "lemonade" which is to say they were selling bottled water and bags of lemons.

Yep, they sure do. Something about 'potential risks' and 'sanitation standards'.... meanwhile taco trucks cruise the streets selling dog meat wrapped in greasy tortillas.

oh lol. i hope they included some sugar packets to make the purchase worth it.

Not even sugar! Cops probably would have shot them first thinking it was drugs.

I guess it beats their usual habit of hanging out at the laundromat trying to bust the change machines open.

my husbands family is all in california, and he wants to go down this summer. im deathly afraid of being shot in a drive by or being pelted with lemons.

Sorry drankid. So far I havent been shot, but there have been 3 shootings on my street this year, and one of them was when 8 cops shot a mentally disabled man armed with a steak knife. it's insane.

There is a lot that is lovely about California, but it's not in the greater Los Angeles area. DH and I are thinking one more year here, saving as much as we can (it's an expensive place and not easy to save, but the work is better for both of us here) and then we're out.
